Dr. Suzanne Sykurski

Meet Suzanne

Dr. Suzanne was born in San Diego, CA into a Navy family.  Her ancestors, like many immigrants in the early 1900s, had come to America seeking opportunity… The American Dream.  Her immediate family continued that sense of exploration, having lived on both coasts of the US and later, a Mediterranean island country. Her family took every opportunity to travel as much as they could during their time abroad. Consequently, she was able to experience widely different cultures, lifestyles, and their unique diets.  These experiences helped to cultivate within her a sense of wonder and inquisitiveness about the world around her.  They helped mold the doctor she was to become.

Dr. Suzanne was drawn to the sciences, especially the scientific method of analysis.  She attended university where she completed her degree in Chemistry and was instrumental in publishing a research paper based on her undergraduate research project/thesis.  After her university studies, she continued her family’s legacy by joining the military.

While living in Germany, she was introduced to the German zeitgeist: Naturheilverfahren, or natural treatment methods.  Common in European countries were modalities such as thermal mineral bathing, volcanic sulfur mud baths, spinal manipulation, and massage. Another pastime unique to Germans was the weekend Volksmarch.  After several hours of walking through the beautiful forest trails, people re-gather to celebrate with food, drink, song and dance.

Dr. Suzanne left the military to pursue a career in forensics and toxicology in Maryland.  It was during this time that she began to experience her own health challenges.  Something deep inside of her led her to seek out alternative medical modalities when conventional medicine seemed to fail.  After 12 years in forensics, she left her home to study natural medicine at Bastyr University in Seattle, WA.

Dr. Suzanne graduated from Bastyr University in 2004.  She started her medical practice in a small town in rural Washington state, near the foothills of the Cascade Mountain range. She practiced there for 16 years until her recent return to Maryland in 2021. Her practice was largely focused on Lyme, cancer, autoimmune, and hormone imbalance conditions.

Dr. Suzanne has an unbridled passion for helping others overcome their chronic medical afflictions.

She is very excited to join the group of extraordinary practitioners at East West Healing Arts in Crownsville, MD.  Her practice focus here will continue to focus on Lyme and associated diseases.  Her therapies will address chronic pain syndromes and assistance with detoxification.
